The 2016 season is nearly over. Its been a busy one. Maggie has excelled herself with a win at Firle Novice, along with 3rd at Little downham giving us two goes at the NRF next year. She gained 11 points this season and is ready to upgrade. Barny had a steady start after picking up an infection after his first run at Poplar. Once recovered he got placed at Novice and IN, had a few cheeky moments but flew round a one star and intermediate. Both Barny and Maggie qualified for Gatcombe Corinthian Cup. It was a great competition, both up in the running after good dressage but unfortunately neither had experienced the buzz of the showjumping having 2 down but flew round the cross country. Both learning lots and coming out stronger for the next run. Confetti was her consistent self gaining placings and finishing with a win. Nomad began to learn what eventing was all about! He again picked up numerous placings at BE100. Chilli has been playing at home, growing lots (hes over 17hh now) and enjoying his education. He will be out and about this Autumn learning what life is all about.
Little Downham - 3.10.15
The season finished well with 5 running and all feeling good. Confetti flew round finishing 3rd on her dressage of 24. Nomad has taken to eventing extremely well with a good dressage and a great xc round but one down sj put us out of the prizes. Barny and Maggie finished the season with a novice, both charging round very confidently. In hindsight the jockey should have taken a long route with Barny due to his lack of practice this year, he had an unfortunate 20 penalties at the coffin with a clear sj and good dressage but as he has spent most of the year in a stable I was just pleased to have him out playing again! Maggie had one down sj, lack of breaks xc resulted in a circle. Jago finished on good form in the BE 100 but it wasn't to be with a frustrating step back at the step down. He is now off to his new home so I wish them all the luck, he's a great fun horse. And a big thank you to all my owners for their support this season. I cant do it without them. A special thank you goes to Jagos owners, Alison and Nigel, as they have not only been owners but also caterers, drivers and stud man this season!!! We ll miss them on the circuit next year. And to Joss who helps/ trains/ advises me all the time! 2015 hasn't entirely gone to plan! With most of the horses having time out at some point due to lameness or illness but at least we finish with them all fit and well. A winter ahead of dressage and sj with a bit of hunting for Maggie. Fingers crossed for 2016!
South of England - 26.09.15
The 3.30 am start was worth it! We took 3 horse, Barny, Maggie and Jago all doing the BE100. It was great to have Barny back out competing. He felt fantastic with a 30 dressage, an expensive pole down SJ and a great clear xc, finishing 11th. Maggie was top dog with a double clear finished 9th and Jago followed suit with a 9th after a 28.8 dressage and one down sj.
Munstead - 20.09.15
A great day at Munstead with Jago and Nomad (who was doing his first event). Jago was a winner!! With 27.5 dressage and double clear in the BE 100. Nomad was a star coming 7th in the BE 90 with 29.3 dressage and double clear. So pleased with both horses and really excited about this ex race horse!
Goring - 6.09.15
Firle - 29.08.15
Maggie and Jago went today. Maggie felt great and back to form storming round the cross country to finish 7th with a good dressage and one down sj. She has had various problems this seasons with breathing and stomach ulcers so its taken a while to get her back on form, fingers crossed! Jago was a good boy, doing a very good dressage but got star struck with all the crowds Sj, but a lovely steady clear xc will set him up nicely for Goring.
Wix Dressage - 13.08.15
Barny had his first outing since being off work after an injury in the field in January. He won his Novice test so fingers crossed the work continues to get back eventing soon. Toby, my very sweat 5 year old that I bought from Ireland as a project to bring on and sell, behaved beautifully and was placed in the prelim test. Nomad, an ex racehorse which is a new ride owned by Fiona Townend did his first dressage test, he found the whole experience very exciting but learnt a lot. So a good day out for all!
Chilham - 8.08.15
Jago had his first run for 2015 and a win with 28 dressage double clear!! Clever boy. Connie and Maggie ran very well just missing out on the prises.
New stable block at Fletchers Farm Livery Yard.
Borde Hill - 25.07.15
Connie went well today with a good dressage and clear xc but with 3 down sj put us out of the ribbons for the first time! Thank you to Louise for making the trip and to Abi for your help.
Eridge - 18.07.15
Connie was a star today posting a double clear to finish 2nd in the BE 90. Robbie, who was a one off ride belonging to Miranda, was a good boy and ran well. Thank you to both owners for their help.
Stratford Hills - 20/21.06.15
A great weekend with Confetti and Maggie. Confetti coming 5th in the BE90 with 26.5 dressage, one down Sj and a great clear xc. Maggie kept up the trend with a 5th in the BE100 plus with a double clear.
Cross country schooling
Chilli, the 4 year old by Chilli Morning, having his first taste of cross country!
Whitfield - 28.04.15
Wix Dressage 23.04.15
The babies went out today for some local dressage. Lilly, a five year old I have in for schooling, won and was 3rd and Tinker was 4th in both her test. A good start to their competitive careers.
Great Witchingham - 28.03.15
A fun day at Great Witchingham. Maggie flew round the BE 100 double clear finishing 10th and Confetti wowed the dressage judges with a 23.5 test! Unfortunately lost the lead with 2 down sj and flew round the xc to finish 4th. Not bad for a hunter!
Goresbridge Sales - 19.04.15
Joss and I had a fun day out today in Ireland horse shopping! I bought a very smart looking 6 year old dun mare that has hunted as a project to bring on and sale.
Poplar park - 15.03.15
It was great to kick off the season at Poplar Park. Jilly was on top form with a 28 dressage double clear and finishing 3rd in the BE100. Maggie was also feeling very well, SJ clear but an unfortunate step back at the water put pay to our double clear. Poor Connnie had to stay at home so fingers crossed she will be back in action soon. Thanks to Lucy and Emma for giving me the ride on Jilly and to Emma and Joss for helping on a very cold day!
Dressage - 05.03.15
Maggie won both the novice classes today, clever pony!
Felbridge Combined Training - 26.02.15
I took 4 horses to Felbridge, all well very well. Connie led the way on 27.5 in the 90, Jilly was 4th on 31 in the 100. Bella just missed out with 4 faults in the 90 and the same for Maggie in the novice. Thanks to Joss, Louise and Emma for coming along to help and watch, very supportive owners!
Hartpury Conference - 02.02.15
The international eventing forum held at Hartpury was extremely interesting with some great guest speakers. It was a great opportunity to lesson and watch Andrew Nicholson jump some of his horses and learn some of his schooling methods.
Eventer Trail at LMEC - 03.01.15
Barny and Confetti went jumping today, a great winter warm up of jumping a timed round over show jumps and cross country jumps. Both jumped well, Barny getting in the prises.
Winter Dressage - 04.12.14
Winter dressage started with Barny at Wix, winning the novice and elementary on 73.8% and 73.1%. Clever boy!
Pulborough - 10.10.14
The last event of 2014 finished on a good note. Barny was 8 th in the novice, flying round a rather tough xc making me very excited about next season! Maggie also did the novice with a good dressage test and one down sj but lady luck was not on our side as we left the start box to a clap of thunder. The event ran to a halt but they didn't stop us on the xc so after fence 11 we decided we couldn't see enough to continue so poor Maggie pulled up to finish the season very wet and soggy but in one piece. Jago won the dressage which makes it 4 out of 6 test he's won this year and with a double clear we thought the win was in the bag! BUT unfortunately he had a baby moment in the start box which meant we collected lots of time faults! So close!! At least all the horses, rider and groom/ owners have finished the season in one piece and happy. All horses having upgraded at least one level and all having their share of placings and wins. A huge thank you to Joss, Alison and Nigel for not only being great owners but also grooms, drivers, trainers and caterers!! Jago has now gone home to Nigel to enjoy hunting with the East Kent, Maggie will cub a little before her holidays and Barny is on his holidays. The three year old is backed so bring on next year!
South of England - 27.09.14
All three horses went very well today. Barny came home with 6 th in the Novice. Jago nearly made it two wins in a row! Leading the dressage on 24 and clear sj but had a stirring issue xc which meant a circle which put us out the prises. Maggie went well in her novice, with one down sj and a green stop xc but flew round the rest and finished very happy. Only one more event left for 2014!
Munstead - 21.09.14
I just had one horse at Munstead and it was Jagos time to shine, winning the BE 100 on his dressage score of 18! What a good boy!
Firle Place - 31.08.14
A winning day for Maggie in the BE 100!! Jago and Barny both flew xc in the 100 and novice but missed out on any prises.
Jago gets a mention in Horse and Hound!!

A good day at Smiths Lawn. No prizes but all 3 horses ran well with all three going clear cross country. Jago doing his first BE 100 and Maggie and Barny flying round the novice.
Carlton - 26/27.07.14
A busy weekend at Carlton with 5 horses running over 2 days. Barny coming 4 th in the Novice. Maggie completed her first novice with a clear SJ and a green moment xc. Jilly Que also completing the novice. Jago was top dog winning his first event of the season (having been off all winter with a foot opporation). He won on 22.5 and Confetti coming 6th in the BE90 with a double clear. A great weekend had by all.
Buckminster - 06.07.14
A good day at a new event for me. I had my first ride on Jilly Que, finishing 2nd in the BE 100 on 25 dressage, double clear and winning a voucher for the closest to the optimum time. Maggie was 4th in the BE 100 with 27 dressage, 1 down sj and clear xc. Barny went well having a green stop at a skinny brush xc in the novice. It was a lovely event and I must thank Jilly's owners Lucy and Emma Brice for their help and Abi my very hard working groom!
Stratford Hills - 14/15.06.14
A successful two days at Stratford Hills. Confetti competing at her first BE event and winning the BE 90 on 28.5 which got a mention in Eventing Magazine. In the Brook nearly continuing the winning spree with 23.5 dressage but a silly fault xc ended that! Barny excelled coming 3rd in the novice and collecting more points! And Maggie did a double clear to come 6th in the BE 100. Thanks to Louise Wells, Joss Hubble and mum for being supportive owners and Abi for grooming.
11Borde Hill - 25/26.05.14
A great two days at Borde Hill. Harvey won the BE 90 section on 21 dressage double clear on the sunday. A fantastic result and he is now unfortunately for sale. Monday was very wet and muddy but both Maggie and Barny both learnt how to go in mud and were placed 7th in the BE 100 and 6th in then Novice so a good day had by all.
Great Witchingham - 18.05.14
This was Confetti's and Ash's first event. Confetti excelled herself and won! Ash went very well, 31 dressage one down sj and a green start to the xc but flew round. I'm really pleased for both the owners, Louise and Kate. Louise bred Confetti and this was a great start to her eventing career.
Chilham Park - 26/27.04.14
They all came home with prises today! Harvey was 4 th in the BE 90, 28 dressage, one down and clear cross country. Maggie was 7 th in the BE 100 and Barny 5 th in the BE 100 plus with a double clear. Thanks to Valda for being top groom!
South of England - 12.04.14
Flecthers Celtic Hero's (Barny) first novice, he excelled with a double clear, gaining his first BE point and finished 13. Millie on Ice ( Maggie) ran very well with one down Sj and clear inside the time cross country, so a good day all round
Great day at Munstead, Harvey was fantastic in his first event with a 33 dressage double clear to finish 9 th in the BE 90. Barny was 9 th in the BE 100 plus with one down Sj and clear Xc and Maggie did a double clear in her first BE 100. A big thank you to Harvey's owner Valda for being an owner and a groom this weekend!
Start of the season - Combined Training at Munstead
A good start to the season, 4 horses went to munstead for a combined training. Harvey was 2nd on the BE 90, Barny 2nd in the BE novice, Maggie jumped a clear in the BE 100 but the dressage was a little bright! Hotty was very excited to be out and about! Great to be out competing again after the long wet winter.
Breaking in the youngster
While the other horses have a holiday I start to back my 2 year old home bred by Chilli Morning out of an Accondy mare I evented.
A Mention in Horse and Hound! - 17th Oct 13
Jago gets his picture and a mention in Horse and Hound for winning two BE 90's!! Very proud owners.
Autumn Hunting with Maggie and her mother Getty!
Pulborough - 13th Oct 13
Last one of the season! Although it was a very wet day it was worth the 4am start! maggie and Jago both competing In the BE 90. Maggie excelled herself to finish 2nd (double clear 32.5 dressage) no longer feeling like a green 5 year old but an established eventer. Jago nearly made it 3 wins in a row, unfortunitly jockey made a mistake and went too fast into a combination so we finished with a very annoyiing 20 pen xc. He felt great and jumped beutifully in horrendous conditions. At least it gives me lots of home work over the winter! It's a lovely feeling to finish the event season with three rather serious event horses, especially as we started the season with three green delinquents!! A big thank you to Joss, Alsion, Nigel and mum for all their help today and throughout the season, they all looked like drowned rats by the end of this day!
Berkshire College - 1st Oct 13
Today was a great day, Jago having his second win of the season in the BE 90 with a score of 24.5! Barny and Hooty both did the BE 100. Barny 5 th feeling like a pro producing a double clear finishing on a dressage of 31.5. Hotty produced a great dressage of 29, 6 faults show jumping and flew cross counttry. She was just out of the ribbons but as she fell last time out breaking her owner Kate's shoulder, we wanted to give her a good run before she competes in the reginal finals at the end of the season. They all felt on great from, its' a great feeling when (eventually!!) it all comes together! Barny is now finished for the season so will have a short holiday now.
Munstead - 22nd Sept 13
We took Barny and Maggie today, both went double clear, Maggie finshing in the BE 90 on her dressage scores of 31 and Barny picking up a couple of time faults to add to his dressage of 28 in the BE 100. But being a young horse he's one for the future and i don't want to rush him. Barny finishing 5th and Maggie 6th and won some money!! A big thank you to helper Clare for driving all that way to help and then going on your night shift. We couldn't have done it with out her.
Finchingfield Dressage - 25th Aug 13
Barny excelled himself to win both Novice dressage tests today.
Chilham Park - 4th Aug 13
We had a great weekend which is always nice when you go back to your old local event (when i was based in kent). Jarhetts Gold (Jago) had his first win in the BE90, finishing on 30 dressage double clear. I was really pleased for owners Alison and Nigel as it is their local event and most of the jump judges knew the horse! Millie on Ice (Maggie) went well to finished 12th for Joss Hubble who was the BE steward and Fletchers Celtic Hero (Barny) settled well and did a 28 dressage, double clear, and came 5th in the BE 100.
